白天也看到极光？瑞典天文摄影师 Göran Strand（@Astrofotografen）早前的一张作品获美国太空总处（NASA）选为“每日佳作”。在相片中，天空上的云出现像珍珠的彩虹色光晕，既神秘又美丽。由于这种天文现象很罕见，所以不少网民还以为见到“白天的极光”。

“珍珠云”相片在瑞典中部城市艾斯特尔斯登（Östersund）拍摄。根据 NASA 的解说，“珍珠云”的学术名称叫极地平流层云（Polar Stratospheric Clouds），又称作贝母云（Mother of pearl cloud）或珠光云，通常由大小均称的小水点组成。当太阳刚好在地平线以下，这种离地面 20 至 30 公里的薄云，会透过衍射作用，将太阳光幻化成彩虹色。而且随着云的形状及太阳光入射角度的不断改变，彩虹光晕亦会不断变化，可谓叹为观止。

贝母云只出现在苏格兰、北欧及阿拉斯加等少数高纬度地区，且只会在冬季见到，遇见的机会极少。Strand 非常巧妙地用“珍珠云”的倒影作为前景，令到相片观感不致过于单调，但又不会喧宾夺主，主次依然分明。
