虽然微软强调不再投入Windows 10 Mobile操作系统研发，但以目前Windows 10采跨平台、跨装置形式设计，或许代表微软将借由Universal Windows Platform形式，让Windows 10能直接在行动装置运作使用，而非额外推出Windows 10 Mobile版本。
根据微软Windows Insider Program团队资深程式经理Brandon LeBlanc透露，未来Windows 10 Mobile操作系统将不再获得重大版本更新，而仅针对安全项目继续释出更新，意味微软接下来将不再将重心聚焦在Windows 10 Mobile操作系统，而更着重Windows 10主要版本更新。
虽然先前便曾多次透露未来将不再将重心放在手机市场，而将以整个Windows 10市场生态发展为重，Brandon LeBlanc稍早回应内容则显示未来在Windows Insider Program测试内容将不包含任何Windows 10 Mobile相关更新。虽然Brandon LeBlanc过去曾说明微软日后将持续透过Windows Insider Program释出Windows 10 Mobile相关测试内容，但显然在整个市场策略调整之下，微软终究还是舍弃在手机市场直接与苹果、Google竞争。
不过，虽然微软强调不再投入Windows 10 Mobile操作系统研发，但以目前Windows 10采跨平台、跨装置形式设计，或许代表微软将借由Universal Windows Platform形式，让Windows 10能直接在行动装置运作使用，而非额外推出Windows 10 Mobile版本。
但目前微软并未进一步针对手机市场布局作回应，仅说明微软仍重视手机市场发展，但现阶段并未计划推出行动装置相关操作系统更新，仅协助合作伙伴进入更多元市场竞争。
